Attractions Within One Hour

There is so much to see and do in Gros Morne National Park. Make The Candlelight your headquarters for a few days and prepare for an unforgettable experience! We’re located in the heart of Rocky Harbour, and Rocky Harbour is the heart of Gros Morne National Park. You can see the famous Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse from our back deck. If you want to take closer look, it’s just a five minute drive.

Anchors Aweigh

A Short Walk

The musical comedy show that everybody talks about is just a short walk from The Candlelight at the Ocean View Hotel. It’s a good idea to book your tickets as soon as possible before you come to Newfoundland.  Many of the shows sell out months in advance.

Norris Point

10 Minute Drive

Stop at Jenniex House for one of the best views in the park, overlooking Bonne Bay and the Tablelands. Visit the Bonne Bay Marine station for a closer look at the underwater life in Western Newfoundland. Take the water taxi to Woody Point. Take the Bonne Bay Boat Tour to see spectacular scenery and if you are lucky, a whale or two.

Woody Point

15 Minute Water Taxi from Norris Point

Take the water taxi from Norris Point and spend an afternoon checking out the gift shops in Woody Point. Have lunch at one of the unique restaurants. Take a stroll around town and enjoy many historic buildings.

Tablelands

1 Hour Drive

It’s a one hour drive from Rocky Harbour to The Tablelands, but every mile is spectacular. Visit the Interpretation Centre near Woody Point. Hike the Tablelands Trail. It’s one of only a handful of areas on the planet where the earth’s mantle has been pushed up to the surface. Continue your day trip with the 20 minute drive to Trout River at the very southern end of the park.

Baker's Brook Falls

10 Minute Drive, 4.5 km Hike

It’s just a short drive from Rocky Harbour to the trail head. Most of the trail is boardwalk and the final section is a bit more challenging. All our guests agree it’s worth the effort.

Western Brook Pond

20 Minute Drive, 3 km Hike

The spectacular 17 km boat tour to the end of Western Brook Pond is usually the number one item on visitors’ lists. This inland fresh water fjord is one of the top attractions in Gros Morne National Park.

Gros Morne Theatre Festival

40 Minute Drive to Cow Head

Theatre Newfoundland Labrador presents the Gros Morne Theatre Festival every summer in Cow Head. Shows include traditional theatre and dinner theatre. It’s a good idea to book your tickets as soon as possible before you arrive, as many of the shows sell out months in advance.
